There is something about fall in Kentucky that feels almost made for a movie: winding country roads, historic small towns, rolling Bluegrass farmland, changing leaves, front porches, warm drinks and evenings spent around a fire. At Ashford Acres Inn in Cynthiana, Kentucky , you don’t just visit that version of fall - you get to stay in the middle of it. Located just 45 minutes from Lexington, about an hour from Cincinnati, 1.5 hours from Louisville, 20 minutes from Georgetown and 15 minutes from Paris , Ashford Acres is an easy Kentucky fall getaway that somehow feels much farther away from everyday life. A Kentucky Town Made for Fall Cynthiana has earned recognition as a top fall destination in Kentucky, and once October arrives, it isn’t difficult to understand why. Historic downtown Cynthiana delivers the kind of small-town autumn atmosphere that feels straight out of Gilmore Girls or a Hallmark movie. Spend an afternoon wandering downtown, popping into locally loved stops like Fibonacci Antiques, Uniques Antiques, The Next Chapter Bookstore, Maime’s Fine Wines & Gifts, or Pike Street Wine House - then leave town behind and drive just a few minutes into the countryside to Ashford Acres. That is what makes a fall stay here so special: you don’t have to choose between a charming Kentucky small-town getaway and a peaceful countryside retreat. You get both. Add a Little Ghost Story to Your Fall Weekend For nearly two decades, the Cynthiana Ghost Walk has been one of the community’s signature October traditions. The lantern-led walk takes guests through historic downtown before heading inside the historic Rohs Opera House, built in 1871 and described by the Ghost Walk itself as the third-most-haunted building in Kentucky . It’s not a haunted house filled with actors and jump scares. It’s local history, storytelling, reported paranormal experiences and evidence collected during previous investigations—all unfolding in the actual places where the stories originated. For guests who want to build an entire stay around the spooky side of Cynthiana, Ashford Acres now offers The Ghostly Getaway package for two. It includes Cynthiana Ghost Walk admission, The Ashford Files filled with stories, history and mysteries, a spooky arrival sip, lanterns for an evening walk, a fall treat, s’mores and a fire pit, a Halloween movie snack basket and a seasonal fall candle to take home. Or Spend 64 Acres in Fall If your ideal autumn weekend is less spooky and more cozy, our 64 Acres of Fall package was created for exactly that. The package includes seasonal cocktails or mocktails, charcuterie for two, s’mores beside your personal fire pit, hot chocolate or cider, a seasonal candle and a one-hour farm tour of Ashford Acres . And that farm tour isn’t simply a walk around the property. Ashford’s main house was built in 1858 , and pieces of the property’s history are still visible throughout the grounds—from the old carriage step built into the rock wall to the mill wheel and other remnants of generations who lived and worked on this Kentucky land. You’ll hear about the history of the home while also getting a look at what Ashford is today: a working 64-acre property with gardens, animals, hospitality, events and a team caring for it every day. Fall at Ashford Doesn’t Need an Itinerary Some of our favorite fall experiences aren’t scheduled at all. Take a walk along the grass trails as the leaves begin changing across the Kentucky countryside. Visit the animals. Find an adirondack chair with a beautiful view. Wander through the garden as it completes another growing season and begins its transition into rest and rehabilitation for the year ahead. Go fishing at the pond. Sit on the front porch. Bring a book outside. Watch the sun disappear behind the rolling hills. Later, order a seasonal cocktail made with house-made purées, local bourbons and thoughtfully selected spirits. End your evening with a fireside nightcap, hot cider or s’mores. The point isn’t to squeeze as much as possible into a weekend. Sometimes the best part of a Kentucky fall getaway is finally having somewhere beautiful enough to do absolutely nothing. Build Your Stay Around a Fall Event Fall is also one of our busiest seasons for experiences at Ashford Acres. Guests can visit our Events page before booking and curate an overnight stay around one of our seasonal events. Our 2026 fall calendar currently includes September reservation dining evenings, Spookeasy at Ashford on October 30 , our Halloween Festival and Halloween Tea on October 31 , and our annual Fall to Table Dinner on November 21 , among other experiences. Come for an event. Stay for the night. Wake up in the Kentucky countryside. Or make Ashford the home base for an entire weekend of exploring Cynthiana. The Kentucky Fall Weekend You’ve Seen in the Movies - Only Real Maybe that’s the easiest way to explain fall at Ashford Acres. You know the town in the movie where everyone wanders into local shops, knows the historic buildings, tells old ghost stories and celebrates the changing seasons? That’s Cynthiana. And you know the beautiful country inn just outside town where the characters retreat afterward…the historic house surrounded by fields, fireplaces, porches, animals, gardens, good food and enough quiet to hear the leaves moving? That’s Ashford. Except this time, you actually get to stay there. Whether you’re searching for a romantic fall getaway in Kentucky , a bed and breakfast near Lexington, KY , a quiet weekend away from Cincinnati or Louisville, or simply one of the best places to experience fall in Central Kentucky , Ashford Acres Inn gives you 64 acres to slow down and experience the season. We recently hosted a political fundraiser at Ashford Acres Inn and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Many of our attendees came just as much for the beautiful grounds and delicious food as they did to support the candidate, and the venue delivered on every front!

The staff at Ashford were an absolute pleasure to work with and the planning process was smooth and stress-free. We know weekday events can be tricky to pull off but this one went flawlessly. The team went above and beyond, adding extra tables when we needed them and keeping the food and drinks flowing all evening.

What really stood out was the value. We were able to offer great food and drinks at a fraction of what a comparable Lexington venue would have cost. We're already looking forward to planning next year's event here!

My daughter and her fiance (now husband) had their eye on Ashford Acres Inn from the second they became engaged. Once they brought me there, I could see why. I just could not imagine a more perfect spot for them to have gotten married.

Everything from the very beginning was so seamless. I loved that they had regular vendors that they worked with which made me comfortable hiring them being that they were familiar with the venue and knew what we needed without me even having to say. I loved that the food came right from their kitchen and we didn't have to have food catered in or start looking for a caterer. Not to mention, the food was superb! I loved that this little town of Cynthiana had so many local vendors. We were able to get our flowers from Hal's Flowers (A+) and used JL Custom Sweets (A+) for all the deserts with the exception of apple cider donuts which we got from Stepping Stone Farm. I loved that we were able to have the Rehearsal dinner right there on the property. I loved that we were able to have rooms for the 3 sets of grandparents that attended and they did not have to leave all weekend.

We also had a FABULOUS breakfast for all of our out of town guests the day after the wedding which Ashford Acres provided. Everything was truly above and beyond here. Kristina Drake was our wedding coordinator and she was amazing! Professional, prompt, helpful, had great ideas and a wonderful vision but all along geared it toward what the bride and groom were wanting. The entire weekend was problem free, from the Rehearsal dinner to the breakfast the morning after the wedding. Everything was taken care of immediately without hesitation or questions asked. On our drive home on Sunday my husband asked me what is one thing I would have done differently and after thinking for a minute, my answer was "nothing". That day, I got a text from my daughter saying "Chris and I both agree, that was the best day of our lives!" All that is honestly and truly thanks to Ashford Acres Inn and all the staff involved!

We cannot thank you enough!

We were beyond thrilled with our wedding experience at Ashford Acres! (For context: 250 guests) The experience is well-worth the lovely short drive from Lexington--the Inn is a gorgeously renovated mansion with event barn behind it with lots of beautiful land to look at. The staff were professional, kind, and attentive to detail.

The planning process was an absolute breeze because of Annastasia, who took time to understand our vision and provide helpful guidance along the way to making it happen. She was thorough, fun, and efficient for the whole process and was absolutely incredible on the day-of as well; she kept things running smoothly and continually checked in with us to make sure our needs were met. We were so grateful for her carefully curated vendor recommendations, all of whom did a fabulous job. It's really impressive how Ashford is able to host such a range of events at the venue, each one tailored to the guest's preference. Additionally, we really appreciated having the whole venue for the entire weekend; having our wedding party all stay at the gorgeous Inn while we relaxed just a few yards away in the luxurious Garden Suite ended up being such a fun part of the weekend.

We can't say enough good things about our experience and enthusiastically recommend Ashford Acres for everyone!

There aren’t enough kind words that I can express for this venue and every staff member working there! I got engaged in November 2019 and immediately started searching venues. As soon as I stepped onto the property at Ashford Acres I felt like it was exactly what I was looking for on my wedding day! From the history of the home built in the 1850’s, the beauty and charm of each room throughout the house....the gorgeous modern white barn.....the streaming lights around the property....the tucked away Garden Suite for couples to have a romantic stay on wedding night and anniversaries for years to come.....everything was absolutely perfect! Building up to wedding day was not at all as stressful as I thought it may be. Ashford Acres has incredible staff to help you along the way and always answer questions in a very timely manner! Hope was our wedding coordinator and she is amazing! She is so kind, patient, organized, honest and thoughtful....not sure what I would of done without her or the other ladies! They sincerely feel like friends and family at Ashford Acres. 10.04.2020 was our wedding day and it was absolutely perfect! I feel so blessed to have been married at the most beautiful venue with the BEST of everything! The food is AMAZING, service is fabulous, the atmosphere is one of a kind, every square inch of the property is photo ready and worthy! I wish we could do our wedding all over again, and again, and again! Forever grateful for Ashford Acres....and looking forward to returning with my husband for future anniversaries and all the fun events they host seasonally!! We love you Ashford Acres & Staff, Shelby Bayer

I can’t say enough good things about Ashford Acres. From the moment we chose it to be our wedding venue to our big day our experience was absolutely amazing. The venue was absolutely beautiful and reminds me of the good things in life. A place where your friends and family can get together and have a great time. Annastasia is an amazing coordinator and she made it so easy for me to plan the wedding even from Georgia! I would recommend this venue to everyone and we will definitely be back to stay as regular guests.

I have always had a dream that I would be getting married on a beach. That was the plan, until COVID hit and my soon to be husband and I had to think of changing our wedding and location less than two months before saying "I do". Knowing that we wouldn't have any luck with such short notice, I tried reaching out to Ashford Acres, and they contacted me within no time telling me that the date I wanted was available. My mom and I went to the venue to talk things over, we were very pleased and decided to book with them. And it couldn't of been more perfect. They took all of our ideas and made them come to life. Thankfully, with having the rehearsal dinner there on Thursday, throughout the weekend we got to act like it was ours while using pretty much every bit of this beautiful location; for the dinner, having our ceremony on the front porch, to having our reception in the event barn, and getting to stay the night before the wedding in Magnolia with my bridemaids and ending our wedding night in the Garden Suite, I am so thankful for this experince. The staff was wonderful and took great care of us and made sure everything was very clean. I never pictured myself getting married no place other than the beach, but one thing for certain, I am glad it worked out the way it did because I got to get married in my hometown that created beautiful pictures for a lifetime. Ashford Acres, I truly can't thank you all enough for all you all did, especially on such short notice. No doubt about it, I would do it all over again and not change a thing.

Ashford Acres Inn is beautiful in every way!! We have stayed there quite a few times and every single time has been consistent: SO GOOD we keep coming back! Everyone that I have encountered at the Inn has been very friendly, attentive, and makes me feel at home for the entirety of our stay--customer service is huge for me and theirs is always excellent. The suites are amazing, and even though I don't like sleeping in any other bed but my own, these beds are sooo comfy and I'm always guaranteed a good night of sleep! While I enjoy the comfort of the suites, I love being outside--the event barn veranda is a favorite spot of mine, looking out onto the land at any point in the day is beautiful, rain or shine. The dinner we ordered was delicious (as always), I had the salmon with asparagus and mashed potatoes with a slice of chocolate cake for dessert--YUM!! Great food, great people, great service! 1000/10 would recommend staying here, you won't regret it!!!

I am not really sure I can put into words my love for Ashford Acres. From the moment I stepped on the property for the first time I knew it was “the one”. This charming 1858 estate is absolutely breathtaking from every angle. I mean EVERY angle! In the planning stage, Annastasia the Inn Manager, went above and beyond to make sure every detail I envisioned came to life. She made all my unique wedding dreams come true. She is truly a brides lifeline. Every bride NEEDS, I repeat every bride NEEDS an Annastasia! Now our “ Wedding Weekend” was finally here! It was truly a weekend! We had the property all to ourselves Friday afternoon to Sunday Morning. Friday afternoon our bridal party & close family arrived! We were all able to spend the night in preparation for the main event! The rooms are beautiful, luxurious and COMFORTABLE! The morning of the big day, my MOH and myself waked the property with bathrobes and a cup of coffee. Talk about RELAXING!Then we had a gourmet family style breakfast in the dining room. Then all the girls started to dress in the Oak Suite! My favorite room! Fast forward to our “Front Porch” Ceremony. It was everything I envisioned and more. Quaint, historic, charming and full of my 50 favorite people. The only way I can describe it was feeling so full of love. Cocktail hour was at the shaded house veranda. Our guests got to enjoy ham and cheese silders, chicken and waffles and of course pigs in a blanket! Oh and I forgot a full bar and specialty drinks! Dinner was a formal dinner inside the Inn with all of our guests. The Menu for the evening included yeast rolls with honey butter, a house salad, and the main course being filet mignon, mashed potatoes, mac &cheese, and green beans! It was to die for! Then we moved the party to the barn! The barn is simple & classic! It’s the perfect place to dance the night away under the large chandelier and market lights! Our dance floor was surrounded by wood farmhouse tables with lit candles, florals and cheese cloth. The candles and market lights set the mood for a formal evening reception. I was able to customize our table layout to make our small wedding in a large barn feel intimate. We truly danced the night away with the people who matter most to us. After the reception, my now HUSBAND and bridal party relaxed under the twinkling lights by the garden suite with a fire pit. It was filled will many memories and laughs I won’t ever forget. Then we took to our rooms for the night after a long beautiful day. In reality that day wasn’t long enough. Sunday morning we all had breakfast and then said our goodbyes. I’m not lying when I say I cried the whole way home. It was truly the best weekend of my life and it wouldn’t have been possible without the Anastasia and all of the wonderful accommodating staff. I am so happy I get to return to such a special place for future anniversary’s to reminisce on the best day of my life. Thank you Ashford Acres for making the wedding I waited 11 years for truly magical. I love you all. Sincerely, Mrs. Yelton

Great place, so clean. Staff is so friendly. We had a beautiful day/night in the Garden Suite. HIGHLY recommend. The picnic basket offering was delicious and well-made. The room was comfy, clean, and welcoming. The surrounding Kentucky landscape was breathtaking. If you're looking for a quick, affordable vacation...THIS is the place.

While visiting family, I decided to have a night out with my sister. Since we were having family pictures done, Ashford was the perfect spot to do both. Everything was perfect from booking the room to breakfast in bed. They did everything possible to maintain social distancing and accommodated our requests with ease. We were greeted with 2 cupcakes and chocolates, bed was incredibly comfortable, shower was perfection and dinner was amazing! I will definitely be returning!

As a wedding photographer, I've seen hundreds of venues around Kentucky and it was an absolute delight to get to photograph at Ashford Acres Inn! The staff was incredibly helpful and kind. The hardest part of my day was narrowing down where I wanted to photograph because there were so many amazing options. I can't wait to get back!

Where do I begin, when reviewing the place and people that made my picture perfect wedding day possible?!? After seeing a stunning picture of the event barn online, I was immediately in love with Ashford Acres Inn. Living 6 hours away made me initially question if this venue would be worth the travel, however after my first visit I knew this was the place I wanted to get married! Even in the winter with no leaves on the trees, it was gorgeous!

After booking the venue, the Ashford Acres Inn staff was always more than happy to answer my manyyyyyy emails of questions, set up zoom meetings, give me vendor referrals, arrange face to face meetings and implement COVID-19 precautions so that everything was ready for the wedding day! Annastasia was my day of coordinator and was sooo sooo amazing! She truly was able to understand my vision for the day and make it happen. She made sure tables were decorated, people were where they needed to be, the schedule of the day was running smoothly, and that the everything that day was as perfect as could be!

When I booked my wedding at Ashford Acres Inn, I knew it was beautiful, but I didn’t realize just how special having my wedding there was until I did it! Walking out to my ceremony in front of the event barn, I felt like I could see each family member and friend attending and that it was such an intimate personal place to be married. I also loved that everyone could just stay on the property for the cocktail hour and reception, and not have to worry about driving to a second location. People had so much fun mingling outside before heading into the event barn for the reception. The event barn turned out to be even more perfect than I could have ever imagined for my reception. With all of the doors open, the breeze blowing in, and every single view outside looking like a picture on a postcard, it was amazing. All of this paired with the gorgeous rooms at the inn, so many personal touches from the staff and a brunch with our immediate families the following morning, where we reminisced on the wedding, made for the most special experience anyone could ever ask for! I am so grateful to the entire Ashford Acres staff for making my wedding day so wonderful and would recommend this venue to anyone!!!

The staff at Ashford Acres Inn is tremendous! They were so helpful and flexible during the ups and downs of the pandemonium the last several months. They had their finger on the pulse of Kentucky which tremendously helped us plan a wedding two states away. They let us know new guidelines as they were developed. The grounds were immaculate! The food at both the rehearsal dinner and the reception was amazing! The staff was extremely professional, adjusting on the fly as necessary. Annastasia, Hope and Ally are the best!

BEST DAY EVER. I honestly cannot recommend Ashford Acres enough to anybody looking for a wedding venue, bed-and-breakfast, or just to visit. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure your day goes perfectly! As a very picky person, I found everything I was looking for and more at Ashford. It truly was the best place to get married.
